Pay Attention to your Anger, Spalletti Warns Osimhen

Following weekend red card awarded Victor Osimhen in the opening tie against Venezia, Napoli coach Luciano Spalletti has warned Victor Osimhen to pay attention to his emotional.

Despite being reduced to 10 following the matching order to Osimhen, Napoli thrashed their visitors 2-0 in the encounter.

Though the 10 man side of Napoli were able to trash Venezia 2-0 deaf, after Osimhen was sent off, Spalletti said the Nigeria striker must work on his emotion to avoid defenders using at against him.

In a post-match press conference, Coach Spalletti said: “Referee Aureliano was very correct when he explained it to me. Osimhen has to pay attention to his emotional reactions, he is a strong attacker and all the defenders will try to help themselves by limiting his physical exuberance. He will always have his hands on his opponents.”

Meanwhile, a lawyer and sports law expert Eduardo Chiacchio spoke on Osimhen’s disqualification: “It was not a violent act with a distant ball. In the latest consolidated jurisprudence, the actions that occur in the area as a result of a set piece are considered gestures that fall within the anti-sporting act, not violence because the ball is in play,” he said.

“Jurisprudence has now consolidated in considering it incorrect or unsportsmanlike. Two rounds disqualification? If it is a violent act they should be 2, but it is not and therefore only 1 day, also because the opponent immediately got up and there was no need even for a doctor,” Chiacchio told Kiss Kiss Napoli.
