Niger State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps lost seven officers in the course of duty.
Haruna Bala Zurmi, the State Commandant, made the discovery while addressing press on the command’s actions during the year.
“In the last one year, the command lost seven personnel who were on official duty,” he said.
According to Zurmi, the command has received 1,578 cases and recovered approximately N56.987 million from various crimes committed in the previous year.
He went on to say that the money seized from criminals was returned to the rightful owners.
He described the instances as including criminal breach of trust, theft, violence, trespass, burglary, and land conflicts, among other things.
Zurmi stated that the command has apprehended numerous cars carrying vandalized public property and that cases have been settled.
He emphasized the need of community participation in the battle against crime, as well as residents abstaining from criminal behavior and providing important information to law enforcement.
