Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State was startled and saddened by the death of Esther Kolawole, the wife of the Speaker of the Kogi House of Assembly.
In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Muhammed Onogwu, Bello extended his condolences to the widower, Matthew Kolawole.
He stated that the state was going through a terrible moment and urged the speaker, his family, and the entire state to be strong and put their faith in God.
He described the late Kolawole as a decent and God-fearing woman who stood by her husband throughout their marriage and till her death.
The governor remarked that she had left a significant vacuum in the public’s mind and that she will be much missed for all of the roles she had played throughout her life.
During this tough period, he stated that the state government will support the speaker and his family.
The governor sent his sympathies to the Kolawole family, the state legislature, and the Kabba Bunu people.
According to the Nigerian News Agency, Mrs Kolawole, 50, died on Sunday at a Lagos hospital following an unidentified illness.
