Justice Darius sentences Austin Cole to 8 months imprisonment.

Austin Cole was sentenced to eight months in prison by Justice Darius Khobo of the Kaduna High Court on Wednesday for his role in a N1.2 million employment scam.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission had charged Cole with breach of trust and cheating, and he had pled guilty.

The judge, on the other hand, granted the convict the option of paying a N300,000 fine or paying N1.2 million in restitution to the complainant, Philip Rachel.

Cole was arrested, according to EFCC Counsel J. M. Musa, after the Commission received a petition from the complainant, Philip Rachel. The offenses, according to Musa, were in violation of Section 1(1)(a) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Related Offenses Act of 2006.

According to Musa, the defendant took N1.2 million from the complainant under the guise of assisting her and her relatives in obtaining jobs in the federal public service.

The defendant diverted the money to his personal use after the complainant provided it to him, according to the lawyer, and all attempts by the complainant to obtain her money back were futile.
