LGAs Should Enlist Security Agencies In Their Areas To Mainten Peace – Delta State Govt.

The Delta State Government has directed local councils to enlist the services of various security agencies and local vigilante to ensure peace in their areas of responsibility in order to attract more investors to the grassroots.

The state government has indicated that any local government council in the state that is producing realistic economic development plans to rebuild its community will be supported and collaborated with.

Governor Ifeanyi Okowa made the statements at the palace of the Ovie of Agbon Kingdom while presenting the Ethiope East Economic Development Plan to His Majesty, Mike Omeru, Ogurime-Rime, Ukori 1.

Hon Victor Ofobrukueta, Chairman of the Ethiope East Local Government Council, was praised by Okowa for initiating the 20-year Ethiope East Economic Development Plan, which he said will revolutionize the entire local government area if successfully implemented.

As a result, he announced that the project will be supported by the state government.

Governor Okowa, who was represented by his Chief Economic Adviser, Dr Kingsley Emu, reaffirmed the Delta State Government’s commitment to expand the state’s revenue base. He advised the Ethiope East Local Government Area to purchase land in order to boost agricultural productivity and hence the council’s revenue.

The economic development plan was conceived as a result of local government’s over-reliance on the federation account for survival, according to Hon Victor Ofobrukueta, Chairman of Ethiope East Local Government, who spoke during the summit.

He went on to explain that the summit’s goal is to shift people’s minds about relying entirely on the government for all of their requirements, and that the initiative will be ongoing, pushing all stakeholders to accept it for the sake of continuity and sustainability as the transitions progress.
