The Vigilante of Oleh Division, Isoko South Local Government Area, Delta State, apprehended 26-year-old Davidson Odigho at Oleh’s Irri roundabout.
The suspect was detained in connection with the alleged abduction of a man returning to the United States from Europe.
Other members of the kidnapping gang fled the scene in a white Hilux truck without a registration number. This news just broke.
Other weapons and ammo found in the suspect’s property included an AK-47 rifle with nineteen (19) rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition, one magazine, a pump action gun, and two dozen (26) live cartridges.
Residents alerted the vigilantes after a heated confrontation broke out between the alleged kidnappers and the man returning from Europe (name withheld).
After receiving a distress call from the Vigilante, Divisional Police Officer DPO Oleh launched a well-coordinated operation to apprehend one of the perpetrators.
In a statement signed by DSP Bright Edafe, the Police Public Relations Officer, Delta State Police Command, CP Ari Muhammed Ali, corroborated the report’s allegations.
It was during interrogation that a 63-year-old woman was abducted and dumped by her kidnappers when they realized that the police were closing in on them,” a police image maker stated.
One Ak 47 rifle, 19 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition, one magazine, and one pump action gun, along with 26 live cartridges hidden in a sack bag and dumped in the property, were found by police, according to DSP Edafe.
A “manhunt for the fleeing members of the gang” is still on, he said.
