Olori Atuwatse III, the wife of the Olu of Warri, has urged Christians to remember Jesus’ birth when celebrating Christmas.
This was part of her Christmas speech on Saturday, which also included a prayer for the country.
The wife of Itsekiri’s most powerful monarch took to Instagram to post a family portrait and a message.
She wrote, “Merry Christmas! For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder.
“And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6
“The birth of Jesus commemorated a whole new government on earth; the King of the entire universe, Immanuel wrapped Himself in human flesh just to dwell amongst the most rebellious people and save them from themselves.
“So as the Warri Kingdom and the rest of the Nation celebrate with carols, food, gifts and all-round Christmas cheer, it is prudent to do so with the reason for Jesus’ birth in mind to redeem humanity.
“It is my prayer in this yuletide season that the light of Jesus Christ will shine brightly before the people and lead the entire Nation into the unique path designed especially for her. Merry Christmas one and all!”
