Remo Stars 0-0 Nasarawa Utd: Sky Blue Stars Held By Solid Miners In Goalless Draw

Remo Stars Football Club (RSFC) were held to a 0-0 draw at the Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne-Remo in matchday three (3) of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

Head Coach of the host, Gbenga Ogunbote made three (3) changes to his side that defeated Heartland FC 3-0 in the matchday two (2) of the NPFL.
The hosts dominated the majority of the match but lacked the cutting edge in attack, while the best chance came in the sixty-seventh minute through Tochukwu Michael but Kayode Bankole did justice to it.

The Sky Blue Started like a horse on fire after Samuel Anakwe had an opportunity to put the host in the drivers’ seat in the early minutes of the game but his attempt flipped wide.

At half an hour into the game, another opportunity surfaced for the host after Sodiq Ismail squared in a pass towards the visitors’ goal area but nobody was close to converting for the Sky Blue Stars but the defenders of the visitors were at alert to avert the danger.

In the second forty-five minutes, the Sky Blue Stars continued to mount pressure on the visitors, Samuel Anakwe was a thorn on the flesh of the visitors as he squares towards their goal area but nobody was available for the Sky Blue Stars to put the ball at the back of the net and Ameh Godwin saved.

In the fifty-eighth minute, Qudus Akanni dazzled from the midfield to set up Samuel Anakwe but Chris Madaki was at the right place to clear the ball out of play, the Sky Blue Stars took the corner kick and Andy Okpe couldn’t get his header past Ameh Godwin.

The host continued to find an opportunity to break the deadlock as Kayode Bankole sent a long throw to Sunday Williams, he took at once but the Solid Miners’ goalkeeper looked ever ready to deny all attempts from the Sky Blue Stars.

The result sees the Sky Blue Stars remain top of the league going into the new year with 7 points ahead of Akwa United and Rivers United who are equal on points but adrift with goal difference.

Next for Remo Stars is a trip to Akwa Ibom on the 2nd of January 2022 to face Dakkada FC who are currently fourteenth on the log with three (3) points.
