A joint squad of military troops and police officers engaged criminals in a gun duel for hours at Umuaka in the Njaba Local Government Area of Imo State on Tuesday, killing four people.
Sources told our correspondent that the criminals were on their way to rob Point Of Sale Services operatives when intelligence information was sent to security officers in a nearby axis, who responded quickly.
When the hoodlums saw the security personnel, they allegedly opened fire on them, killing three of them instantly and leaving the other to die in a hospital.
A source said, “It was a heavy gun battle. The residents of the area run away owing to the intensity of the gun battle. At end of the day, four robbers were neutralized. The robbers came to rob POS operatives.”
In conclusion, When contacted, Micheal Abattam, a police spokesperson for the command, revealed that three robbers died on the spot and one died later in a hospital.
He stated that the command would continue to make criminal elements uncomfortable in the state.
