Shoot down suspected attackers of detention centers in Nigeria – Dr. Ahmed Audi.

Dr Ahmed Audi, the Commandant-General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, has instructed his men to shoot down suspected attackers of detention centers around the country.

He also told state corps commandants to work closely with the Nigerian Correctional Service to strengthen prisons that had recently been attacked.

The CG, speaking to top officers at a quarterly meeting in Abuja on Tuesday, also asked that state commandants submit security and intelligence reports on time, threatening to remove anyone who failed to do so.

Audi stated, “The Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, has given us a marching order to protect all custodial facilities. So, I am directing you to work closely with the correctional service to provide security at all custodial facilities in your states.

“Attackers of prisons should be spoken to in the language they understand. Anyone who attacked custodial facilities should be dealt with by every means at your disposal.”

The CG stated that the corps apprehended 40 suspected oil thieves and recovered 10 vehicles, nine boats, 69 jerry cans/drums, 100 petroleum pipes, and 83 bags packed with suspected adulterated petroleum products in various regions of Rivers State in collaboration with other agencies.

Seven pumping devices, seven 40HP Yamaha engines, one 90HP Yamaha engine, and various hoses for syphoning diesel, according to him, were among the things retrieved.

According to Audi, the corps has detained 503 individuals in the last year, prosecuted 481 of them, and convicted 122 of them, while also destroying 79 illegal refineries.

The NSCDC licensed 94 private security businesses, sealed 133, renewed 849, and recommended 100 others for revocation, according to our source.
