Why Niger Tornadoes Choose Ilorin Stadium As Home Ground -Aliyu

The management of Niger Tornadoes have concluded plans to stage its Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) home matches at the Kwara Sports Complex in Ilorin.

According to a statement, chairman of the Ikon Allah Boys, Honourable Adamu Aliyu disclosed that the choice of Ilorin became necessary as result of the recent security challenges on the Abuja-Kaduna express way which has become a major source of concern among commuters and prompted the swift change of the earlier proposed Ahmadu Bello Stadium Kaduna.

“The safety and wellbeing of players is a primary responsibility upon us as management, hence the decision to adopt Kwara Sports Complex Ilorin as temporary home ground after an agreement was reached between the Football Associations of Niger State and Kwara State following the League Management Company (LMC) approval, pending the renovation of Bako Kontagora Stadium Minna,” Aliyu stated.

It would be recalled that the 2021/2022 NPFL season is billed to commence on the 17th of December and has received the blessings of all football stakeholders.

Meanwhile, Niger Tornadoes will confront Plateau United of Jos in Ilorin for their opening MatchDay One fixture. .
