NANS commend Seyi Makinde over lessening LAUTECH tuition fee.

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has been praised by the National Association of Nigerian Students, South-West Zone, for reducing tuition fees at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso by 25%.

Mr Olatunji Adegboye, the South-West Coordinator of NANS, released a statement in Ibadan on Wednesday expressing his gratitude.

The tuition fee cut would improve LAUTECH’s status, according to the association, which regarded it as a demonstration of dedication to make education accessible and cheap.

The tuition price reduction is a wonderful move, according to the statement, not only for LAUTECH students but for all students in the South-West.

“The news about LAUTECH tuition fee reduction came at a time when the global economy is facing the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We acknowledge this decision of the government of Oyo State as a remarkable sign of commitment towards making education affordable to the masses in the state despite the economic challenges.

“The Oyo State Government should not stop at that but to further complement it with developmental projects on the campus, as well as provision of adequate training for the staff of the university,” NANS said.

The group urged other South-West state governments to develop policies and initiatives that would improve access to cheap, high-quality education for the general public.

According to him, the South-West Zone is known as the country’s primary source of formal education, and this tradition must be preserved.
