Police Arrests Serial Killer, Wasiri in Ogun State

Ibiyemi Wasiri, a known serial murderer, was apprehended by Ogun state police command in a criminal hideaway in the Igboro area of Ilaro, Yewa-North local government area of the state.

The guy was allegedly on the command’s wanted list in connection with two murder cases.

DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, made the announcement in a statement on Thursday.

The suspect, who is an ex-convict, was apprehended as a result of intelligence received at the Ilaro divisional headquarters, according to Oyeyemi.

He claimed the police received information that the suspect had been spotted in a criminal hideaway in Ilaro’s Igboro neighborhood.

He said, “Upon the information, the DPO Ilaro Division, CSP Olayemi Jacob quickly mobilised his men and moved to the scene, where the suspect who was in the midst of some hoodlums was arrested, while others escaped.

“A bag found with him was searched and one cut-to-size locally-made pistol and seven live cartridges were recovered. The suspect who has been declared wanted by the command for actively participating in the killing of one Michael Abiodun a.k.a S1 on July 22, 2021, and one Kola Fagbemi on July 24, 2021, confessed to have bought the gun from neighbouring Benin Republic. He was said to be a member of a dreaded Eiye cult group terrorizing Ilaro and its environs.”

The Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, has ordered the suspect’s immediate transfer to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for a quiet investigation, according to the PPRO.
