Acting Chief Judge, Justice Mu’azu Pindiga, has tendered his notice of retirement – Zubairu Umar.

The Acting Chief Judge, Justice Mu’azu Pindiga, has given his notice of retirement, according to Gombe State Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General, Zubairu Umar.

In a conversation with journalists at the Ministry of Justice on Wednesday, Umar revealed this.

The National Judicial Council has confirmed receipt of Justice Pindiga’s pre-retirement notice, according to the Commissioner.

Recall that in a petition dated November 29, 2021, which was made available to our correspondent, one Hussaini Musa said he had petitioned the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Ibrahim Mohammed, and the Secretary of the Council, the Director-General, Department of State Services, following an alleged change in his age from January to April 1957, thereby influencing his actual retirement age from January to April 2022.

Umar said, “All I know from what I got from the National Judicial Council was that he (Pindiga), tendered pre-retirement notice and that the NJC has accepted his pre-retirement notice, with effect from 1st January 2022. That is all I know and that is all I can say from what I got authoritatively.”

The Commissioner for Justice did not comment on the ramifications of the claim and did not suggest a course of action.

“If anybody is insinuating anything he can take the necessary action,” Umar said.
